Crack Willow Project

At HAPVRA, our commitment to protecting the environment goes hand in hand with community-driven initiatives. One of our flagship efforts is the Crack Willow Project, a collaborative undertaking with Friends of Te Wairoa aimed at managing the invasion of crack willow tree.

The crack willow, poses significant challenges to natural waterways, disrupting local ecosystems and choking native flora. We take this very seriously, and HAPVRA has been involved in efforts to not only remove this invasive species but also to educate and engage the community in the process. This included television exposure on 7 Sharp.

Through the Crack Willow Project, we host educational events, work alongside local volunteers, and partner with environmental experts to restore balance to affected areas. Our mission is to ensure that our rivers and wetlands can thrive, and that future generations inherit a healthier environment.

Together, with the passion and dedication of our members, we’re taking meaningful steps toward a greener future! Stay tuned for more updates from HAPVRA and Friends of Te Wairoa on this project and ongoing work.
