Recent Happenings and Upcoming Plans
Welcome to Autumn, a change in season brings new beautiful colours to our Valleys and new plans from HAPVRA. Our small group of volunteers has hit the ground running this year with the Emergency Readiness planning in full swing, emergency kits now in our hot little hands, as well as up-coming plans for an exciting community event in October.
Emergency Readiness Workshops
After the successful completion of our Emergency Readiness Workshops, we now have a draft plan forming. The findings from these workshops are currently being compiled into a comprehensive emergency plan which will be presented to the community on Thursday March 27 – while this update is being published, so you will have to stay tuned for the April edition to learn more about this plan and how the meeting went.
We encourage all residents to stay informed and participate actively in this initiative to enhance our community’s resilience. Use our website or social media below to stay updated.
Many thanks to the Pohutukawa Coast Emergency Response Team for their support with Emergency Kits. These Emergency kits are now located at Hunua Hall, which is one of the meeting points available in your time of need. These kits have the essentials required should you have to leave your property in an emergency and stay overnight at the hall.
Plans underway for a Community Day
HAPVRA has been planning a possible community event for Saturday 5th October – this would be hosted at Camp Adair – as the venue is currently available for the day.
The proposed event idea discussed is the “Valley Trees, Tails & Trophies” Day – let us know what you think about the idea of bringing Ag day animals for a final Valley-competition to go head-to-head with local animals. This also presents an opportunity to showcase local businesses and have a bit of fun! The day is suggested as 5 October, which is in the school Holidays and likely a week or so after most School’s Ag days/Calf Club Days.
We look forward to your continued support and participation in making our community resilient and more connected. And we welcome any new residents who are keen to be involved! New residents please reach out if you need any help: contact@hapvra.nz
