October News from HAPVRA

Hunua, Ararimu and Paparimu Valley Residents Association planning ahead!

With our AGM held early October, things are in full swing for what’s happening in the next 12 months.

Commitment to community

Movie nights, chainsaw safety training, community consultation for recovery planning—are just some of the proposals for the year ahead from Hunua, Ararimu and Paparimu Valley Residents Association (HAPVRA). Watch this space or follow us on Facebook for updates on our plans.

HAPVRA will showcase the hard work of the last 12 months at the upcoming Ararimu Christmas Market, Saturday, November 30 at Ararimu Hall. Be sure to pop over to our stand to say hi, as it’s a chance to speak face-to-face with our committee members and see the community’s efforts.

CCTV Update

In recent weeks, CCTV cameras with number plate recognition software, connected to the NZ Police network have been installed in Hunua. Franklin Local Board and Hunua Hall provided funding and now HAPVRA is investigating similar systems for Ararimu and Paparimu. Please note, that only the Police have access to footage, and it has been in a testing phase during August-September but is fully functioning now. Footage is saved for up to six months time.

Hunua Triangle News

Celebrations to commemorate the Hunua Triangle have been planned for November 24. Outgoing HAPVRA co-chair, Jane Berney was a driving force behind the project, turning a derelict site into an admirable landmark. The ceremony will be an opportunity to thank Jane for all her hard work for HAPVRA over the past 15 years, as well as Mary Ingle, another loyal past committee member who also donated dozens of daffodil bulbs to the triangle.

Crack Willow – slow and steady wins the race

Now that it’s spring new growth is all around us, remember if you have crack willow on your waterways the trees will disintegrate from the top down. Follow Friends of Te Wairoa for further updates on all their efforts with this work.

Guy Fawkes Reminder

If you plan to celebrate with fireworks, please alert your neighbours before hand, as fireworks can have serious implications for people with animals. Please be mindful of our four-legged friends.
